Meal Box Program
Fresh Food Weekly will begin offering free meal boxes to low-income families living in the City of Barrie beginning in June 2022. Inspired by the successful run of our Christmas and Easter meal box programs, Fresh Food Weekly has partnered with the Farm-to-Family Local Fare Barrie, Stone Horse Farm and Thorganic Farms to keep these free meal box deliveries going on a monthly basis.
This is a news segment that CTV News Barrie did for us to help us promote our Easter dinner meal box fundraiser in April 2022. Thanks to their help, as well as many lovely customers of the Farm-to-Family Local Fare Barrie group, we were able to raise $2,250 in cash and buy 50 meal boxes valued at $5,000. Then, a group of volunteers delivered them to 50 low-income families who signed up to receive them in advance, on Good Friday.
